The chemical industry is forward looking and works towards achieving a future with sustainable products that will continue to benefit future generations of users in a responsible manner. Quality scientific research has therefore always been at the basis of any substance or product development, not only in view of developing something fit for its purpose but also in view of eliminating any possible undesired consequence. The chemical industry keeps encouraging more exploration of current and emerging issues, through its research programme – the Long-Range Research Initiative (LRI). Continuously striving for improvement in all aspects of health, safety and environmental performance is a firm industry-wide commitment. As part of the Responsible Care Global Charter , the Global Product Strategy (GPS) aims to ensure that both the value and benefits of chemistry are provided to society, whilst protecting safety, health and the environment.
