| Sodium carbonate, or soda ash, is produced using common salt, ammonia, carbon dioxide and lime. It is mainly used as a source of sodium and carbon dioxide (water softener, preparation of sodium salts) and as an electrolyte with fluidising action (ceramics, cement). It is an important raw material in the manufacture of flat and container glass and a variety of chemicals and detergents. |
